About this location

A night at the theatre with a difference

We are please to announce a return to the amazing Kings Theatre

The King’s Theatre, is a magnificent building, steeped in history with many famous actors treading its boards over the past century. The theatre is located in the historic town of Portsmouth in Hampshire

In the mid-1850s, the theatre manager Henry Rutley arrived in Portsmouth and took over the theatre formally known as the Landport Hall. His previous experience in both theatre and circus persuaded him that a theatre could not only be made profitable but would also be a social asset to the town. With only a licence for a limited period he had the faith to re-open the Landport Hall as the New Theatre Royal in 1856.

With four floors and countless rooms this is sure to be one of our most exciting investigations to date. Join us as we attempt to uncover the real performers still haunting this magnificent site.

Since its opening, new life has been injected into the King’s Theatre on many occasions. Can the spirit of past lives also be brought back from the dead through our paranormal investigations?

Will our ghost hunt uncover sightings of the actress who reportedly watches rehearsals or the spirit of a woman who allegedly speaks to ghost hunters about her suicide? What causes the noise of banging doors underneath the stage and in the gods section of the theatre? Are there really ghosts who still sit in the auditorium ?

Is the apparition of a figure standing in the aisle the ever-watchful spirit of John Walter Boughton who had the vision to fund the building of this elegant Edwardian Playhouse ?

Can our ghost hunt detect paranormal activity, which shows that the spirits are willing to put on a performance for us ?

Being a popular venue for ghost hunts we are anticipating this event to sell out very quickly, so book now to secure your place and have the opportunity to investigate the spirits of the theatrical past.
