About this location

Southern Ghost Society have been given this amazing opportunity to not only investigate but stay overnight at this Tudor Mansion which has been lost in time for nearly 15years.

Formally known as ‘Pencerrig’, the Mansion from c1750 was home to Thomas and Hannah Jones, who were parents to the landscape painter Thomas Jones who went on to inherit the property in 1789. Thomas Jones went on to put his own stamp on the manor through renovation, but the more notable contribution to Pencerrig was the creation of a landscape garden.

In the early 1800's the house was passed to Thomas Jones Daughter and in 1832- 1839 the mansion was remodelled in the Tudorbethan style. Under the ownership of Miss Clara Thomas who inherited the manor in 1863, the service block was extended by adding a service wing to form an L-shaped plan and enclose a small service courtyard.

Sadly in 1914, Clara passes away which saw the estate divided amongst her family. The Evan- Thomas family bought and restored the mansion and used it as a shooting estate. In 1958 the Mansion was sold at auction to Margaret Carrel who owned it until 1978. In the early 1980's the Cook family owned, lived and ran the house as a hotel for over 20 years.

This will be the team’s first visit to The Old Manor Hotel, but if the paranormal reports are to be believed we are in for an amazing night. Previous teams have reported hearing movement and banging from uninhabited rooms.

Shadows have been reported around the central staircase which seems to be the focal point for the reported activity.
