Cookies - What are cookies?
Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer. This allows the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user. Alternatively the page itself can contain some script which is aware of the data in the cookie and so is able to carry information from one visit to the website (or related site) to the next.
How Secure are Cookies?
There is a lot of concern about privacy and security on the internet. Cookies do not in themselves present a threat to privacy, since they can only be used to store information that the user has volunteered or that the web server already has. Whilst it is possible that this information could be made available to specific third party websites, this is no worse than storing it in a central database.
Use of cookies on this website is minimal, browsers can automatically remember the username and password you set whilst setting up a Member account. These are stored by the browser as a cookie, and are not requested for storage by cookie by SGS. This is optional and no other data is stored in this cookie. A temporary cookie is created between booking and payment via PayPal. Once this transaction is complete the cookie is destroyed. This cookie stores the information passed to PayPal and is used to confirm that the payment for the booked event has been received.
Southern Ghost Society does not use any third party ad serving services to display content to our users. We therefore do not make use of any tracking cookies that may track your progress into, through and out of our site.
We do hope you enjoy interaction with our website and please rest assured your personal security on our website is our first priority.
